Happy New Year!
The way forward
Paul ends his colossal letter with some strong instructions; things I believe will help us as we proceed in 2022. “Pray diligently. Stay alert, with your eyes wide open in gratitude. Don’t forget to pray for us… Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don’t miss a trick. Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech…” (Colossians 4:2-6)
1️⃣ BE PRAYERFUL:
You need help! You are human, you are fallible, you need God. The way to invite Him to fill the gaps is by prayer. Prayer opens gateways for divine interventions. Prayer births miracles. Prayer is not a spare wheel it is a steering wheel. Take daily communication with God more seriously this year
Pray for yourself
Pray for others…
There is a battle on! The contest is for your destiny. The most viable means of contending for 2022 and beyond is by praying. Don’t stop!
2️⃣ BE ATTENTIVE:
Pay attention; to the events and to the people in your life. But that is not all, your eyes should be wide open in gratitude. Why? Because that is the way to see God’s hand at work in your life no matter how good or bad your situation is. No one can assure you that the 365 days of 2022 will be pleasant. But I can assure you that if you love God, all things will work for your good!
So, watch your heart. Make sure you don’t join the grouse 😫 gang. Put on grace glasses 👓 so you will begin to see God in everything!
3️⃣ BE SMART:
Walk in wisdom. Steadily. Don’t hop in and out of it. Be constant in living within the confines of what is wise. One benefit of being wise is that you are able to make the most of every opportunity. Wisdom will guide you on what and what not to do. Wisdom will impact on all aspects of your life, your health, relationships, career, business etc…
So, don’t be slack and slow. Don’t waste anything—time, talent or treasure! Apply yourself. Develop yourself. Fulfil your life goals. Be proactive.
4️⃣ SPEAK RIGHT:
If you can control your tongue, you have gained one of the greatest victories in life. Your tongue is responsible for the cruel things, mean jokes, gossip and lies you say. It has to be put under control. But that is not all that matters; indeed, the tongue is also a harvester. From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied. (Proverbs 18:20) Mind how you speak. Avoid spewing out negativity and toxicity. “You can change your world by changing your words…remember, death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Joel Osteen
So, pledge to restrain your tongue. Mind what you say.
