Colossal! (IX)
Colossal! (IX)

If I could have, all I would have done this morning would be paste the entirety of the second chapter of Paul’s letter to the Colossians for you to read today. But I guess you can do that on your own. I encourage you, though, go read it, and if possible, in the MSG translation.
Paul begins by speaking of his commitment to their growth and how he desired that they were stable in their faith, tightly connected in love and not hoodwinked by falsehood. Then he went on to tell them about Christ; *Everything of God gets expressed in Him, so you can see and hear Him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without Him. When you come to Him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything.* (Colossians 2:9-10)
When you come to Him, that fullness comes together for you, too.
Disillusionment, discontent, frustration, confusion, depression and restlessness have become front burner issues in today’s world. There are resource materials spread all over the internet that address mental health, psychological stability and emotional well-being. People are struggling harder now to survive than ever before. Yet they are eluded and dashed as their aspirations seem to move like a mirage on a hot dessert road.
In this passage, you can find a key to peace: you come to Him and the result is that fullness comes together for you, too. That settles it! Your fights for destiny relevance; your battles to overcome hindrances and obstacles; and your struggles for survival to “make ends meet” can be resolved by coming to Him. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world (James 4:8 NLT).
Now, the beautiful thing about coming to God is that He does not stand aloof and wait for you to reach Him. No! The very moment you decide, and make a U-turn towards His direction, He too moves towards you. The parable of the prodigal son gave me a vivid picture of how eager our Father wants us back in His sphere. Coming to God will not only clean and restore you, it will also help you see clearly.
Life is more than becoming successful and amassing wealth (these are important don’t get me wrong). However, the wise man said, they are all vanity.. What would matter at the end of our days is how we related with and served or God, and the impact we made in the lives of family, friends and all other people. Getting closer to God will give you a different perspective to life. A different perspective will drive you to different pursuits. Different pursuits will give you different outcomes! Life is empty without Christ.
It is time to work at making your life count. And when you think about it, that is what being colossal is all about—not fame, not fortune, but facts. Facts about what you did, how you lived and what you believed. To be in the line up of the heroes and heroines who changed the world, you must come closer to God.
He is ready, are you?
