Be assured that from the first day we heard of you, we haven’t stopped praying for you, asking God to give you wise minds and spirits attuned to his will, and so acquire a thorough understanding of the ways in which God works. (Colossians 1:9 MSG)

I have a confession to make; this passage is the trigger for these articles. When I read the phrase “asking God to give you wise minds and spirits attuned to his will”, I told myself, this is a good prayer! I need to pray this for myself! And help others pray it too.

If there is anything so imperative for successful living, it’s wisdom. However, wisdom alone is not sufficient though (ask King Solo 🤴🏾, 700 hundred wives and 300 concubines later, he got sense 😂 and wrote his book of proverbs.) This is why the second part of the prayer; a spirit attuned to His will is so important.

First, *A wise mind*. Life is complicated, it is a mix of bliss, challenges, and dilemmas. To succeed you must know what to do. The only way you can is with wisdom. Wisdom is applied knowledge.  Someone said, “It is one thing to know what to do but another thing to know how to do it. Many people know what to do… but only a few people know how it can be done.” Frustration, fear and failure occur because of a wisdom-deficiency. If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct. (Ecclesiastes 10:10 KJV)

There is so much you can learn from school, some more you can learn from experience, and a lot more from elders and mentors. However, the wisdom you can acquire from God surpasses them all. Legends in the Bible, like Joseph and Daniel were distinguished by the wisdom they demonstrated. They knew both what to do and how to do it. As a result, success attended their every move. Get wisdom!

Second, an attuned spirit. There are dimensions to your existence on earth. Everything is not physical, some are spiritual. Only your spirit can relate with the spiritual realm. An aside 👉🏽 The spiritual realm is so critical because it controls the physical. Believe it or not, many things are determined ‘somewhere else’ before they occur in real time. Some of the things you refer to as coincidences are outcomes of some activities of spiritual forces—good 😇 or bad 👿! (But this is not the focus for today 🤦🏾‍)

Today, is to get you to realise that you as God’s child could lean into Him and hear His heartbeat. You could be so connected that you sense His intentions. You could be so close that you instinctively follow His leading and direction. This is the way to discern God’s will and flow with it.

Can you imagine a life with minimal mistakes and reduced regrets? Would it not be nice to hear God whisper guiding words before you make every decision? You may ask “Is this possible?” Yes it is! And God promised it: “Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.” (Isaiah 30:21) God does not want you to live a disadvantaged life. He does not want you to wallow in defeat, He wants you to walk in victory. You can if you are attuned to His Spirit.

I pray for you as we end for this week: May God to grant you wisdom. May He quicken and attune your spirit. May you never again walk in confusion, nor lack direction in Jesus name!  Amen!!! That is God helps people grow great!
