4 ways to show up when you are late (Pt I)

REMEMBER YOUR ROLE AND THE PART YOU HAVE TO PLAY
William Shakespeare said, “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances, and one man in his time plays many parts… “
I believe every life has a purpose: that everyone was created to fulfil some intention. God never makes mistakes, so don’t feel you are one. Unlike God, however, we do make mistakes, quite a lot I must confess. The worst mistake, though, is failing to show up when God is counting on you, people are counting on you and life is counting on you.
The worst mistake, though, is failing to show up when God is counting on you, people are counting on you and life is counting on you.
To show up is to arrive or make an appearance. It is to be there when your scene is to be played. It is you doing your part. Do I need to remind you? You are the chief protagonist in your film or movie. You, yes you! No one can do you better than you. You have been chosen to take the lead, make your movie count!
If we know this to be true, why then do we find ourselves out of character and out of part? It is because we get distracted. We get pulled away by the less critical and more attractive activities. We get busy looking at other people’s scenes, sometimes comparing theirs with ours and forget to do ours. Ours is now an interruption-plagued society—social media and technology interfere with our lives. We see so much, we can’t meet up, and we get overwhelmed. The challenge is that these distractions are damaging our productivity.
Thus, this article brings you back to focus on what matters—your role! To do that, you will need to do the following:
- Identify and avoid regular distractions
- Keep yourself organized and concentrate on your tasks
- Hold your mind and body through personal disciplinary skills
- Prevent other people from distracting you.
Now, that being said, part of your role is to be a blessing in other people’s lives. Do not over-focus on yourself and not show up for family, friends and your society. They need you too, Show up!
